From humble beginnings flipping burgers behind a small hole-in-the-wall, Ferg Group has grown into one of Queenstown’s most iconic food destinations. From Fergburger and Fergbaker to Mrs Ferg, Ferg’s Bar and Fergbutcher, we’re all about quality food, big energy and creating experiences people travel from around the world for.

We’re on the lookout for full-time back-of-house crew to join our teams in Queenstown or Arrowtown. Whether you’re an experienced chef looking for your next kitchen, a solid kitchen hand who knows how to keep things moving, or a hospitality pro keen to take the next step, we’d love to hear from you.

Opportunities Available

We have a range of opportunities across our kitchens and food production teams, including:
• Kitchen Porters – keeping the kitchen stocked, clean, organised and ready for service.
• Grill Chefs – working the heat, keeping the orders moving and serving up seriously good food.
• Food Preparation & Sandwich Production – preparing fresh ingredients and helping create the food our customers love.
• Baker’s Assistants – getting hands-on with the preparation and production of our bakery range.
There are opportunities to put your existing kitchen skills to work, develop new ones and grow with the business.

Who are we looking for?

We’re after people who bring the right attitude, work ethic and energy to the team.

You'll fit right in if you:
• Have previous kitchen or food production experience.
• Are reliable, energetic and ready to get stuck in.
• Can keep your cool when the pressure’s on and the orders are flying.
• Enjoy working as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Take pride in doing a good job, keeping things clean and maintaining high food safety standards.
• Are keen to learn, take feedback on board and get better at what you do.

You don’t need to be a career chef, but you do need to be prepared to work hard. We value people who bring a can-do attitude, take ownership and are happy to muck in wherever needed.

The Practical Stuff

• Full-time hours: Expect around 40 - 45 hours per week, depending on the role.
• Rotating rosters: Flexibility is important, with shifts that may include mornings, afternoons, evenings and late nights. Some positions may require early starts.
• Locations: Queenstown and Arrowtown, depending on the opportunity.
• Visa: Working Holiday Visa holders are encouraged to apply, provided you have the appropriate right to work in New Zealand.
• Duration: We’re looking for people to join us for summer and beyond, with ongoing opportunities available.
