To work in New Zealand — including seasonal jobs in farming, hospitality, fruit picking, wineries and ski resorts — you need a visa that allows work. Most of our jobs are aimed at Working Holiday Visa holders (the backpacker visa). Here's how it works:
Open to citizens of 44 partner countries, aged 18–30 (or 18–35 for some nationalities). Allows you to work in NZ for 12 months (some countries up to 23 months). This is the most common visa for seasonal jobs in New Zealand.
Eligible nationalities include:
For specific seasonal work like wine harvest, fruit picking, or specialised industry roles. Typically arranged through an NZ employer that has been approved to recruit overseas workers.
If you are an NZ resident/citizen, hold a Skilled Migrant or Partnership Work Visa, or any other visa that allows you to work in New Zealand, you can browse and apply for jobs as normal.
What passport do you hold? We'll check if you're eligible for the Working Holiday Visa.
